Sexploitation ring busted, foreigners held

SUBANG: A sexploitation syndicate was busted with the arrests of five foreigners in the Klang Valley.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said two Indonesian men were arrested in the Klang Valley on Oct 26 following information obtained from the Royal Thai Police.

“In the raid, two Thai women and two Indonesian women were rescued. The four women are still in a shelter under the interim protection order,” he told a joint press conference with Royal Thai Police deputy commissioner-general Surachate Hakparn at the police Air Operations Centre here yesterday.

Further investigation led police to arrest three Thai women in the Klang Valley on Oct 29, he added.

“The three women aged between 30 and 39 were the syndicate’s agents, tasked with recruiting local women for sexploitation,” he said.

The IGP said Bukit Aman have successfully assisted the Royal Thai Police in crippling a human trafficking syndicate, which was active in Malaysia and Thailand, with the arrests of the five suspects.

“We always maintain close cooperation with our counterparts in the region to curb crime holistically.

“We will be handing over the three Thai suspects to the Royal Thai Police so that legal action can be taken against them in Thailand.

“The handing over is being conducted through deportation under the Immigration Act,” he added.

Both forces have mutual cooperation in curbing crimes as well as border security, Acryl Sani noted.

“We have good collaboration for many years on various matters. We appreciate him (Surachate) coming over personally.

“Both police forces will be able to curb trans-border crimes effectively and swiftly through close collaboration,” he said.

Meanwhile, Surachate said close cooperation between Malaysian and Thai police led to the successful arrests.

“We are grateful that such cooperation. This syndicate is notorious with victims as young as 14-year-olds,” he said.

The three Thai female suspects were later handed over to the Thai police at the Air Operations Centre.
