Conte is now set to be banned for next week’s crucial group game away at Marseille, where defeat would leave Tottenham vulnerable to elimination.
And after the game Conte could not hide his fury as he attacked UEFA accused officials of dishonesty in comments that could leave him facing disciplinary action.
The Spurs boss said: ‘The ball was in front of Kane and the goal is a goal. I don’t understand the VAR, the line they put.
‘Its very difficult to comment on this decision, VAR is creating a lot of damage. We have to accept.
The Italian railed against the intervention of VAR and said that it is very ‘damaging’ to the game
‘I want to see if in another stadium of a big team if they are ready to disallow this type of goal.
‘I feel a lot of injustice, I don’t see positivity with this.
‘I’m really upset because sometime you can accept these situation. But I don’t see honesty in this type of situation, when I see this I become very upset.
On his sending off, Conte added: ‘The red card – all the people came inside after the decision to disallow the goal and then they come to give me a red card because I’m the most popular person on the pitch.
‘We deserved to win, in the end we know what happened. I hope the club understand this and in the right situation speak with who they have to speak to. The club has to be strong.
‘This situation creates big big damage. If we go out news and then…’
Conte added: ‘We need one point next week but I don’t understand why we need to wait for one game when we could have completed qualification tonight.
Tottenham had thought they’d won it right at the end through a 95th minute Harry Kane effort
‘When you invite the type of situation – it is incredible – you create a lot damage.’
Ruben Amorim, Sporting head coach, said: ‘Last year we had some luck in certain moments, this season has been a very difficult season, so I hope for the best and he [Kane] was offside and it was a good moment.
‘I like VAR, it is fair most of the time. I didn’t see the footage – for us its very good for Antonio Conte it’s very bad tonight. That’s football.’
Spurs defender Matt Doherty added: ‘I think you can see from the celebrations we thought we won it. I don’t really know what happened at the end.
Conte now has plenty to ponder ahead of next week’s crucial trip to Marseille on which their hopes in the competition now likely rest
‘I thought because it went backwards and hit a defender it was a different phase of play. I’ll have to look at the rule book. A few of us don’t have a clue what happened.
‘If we’re being honest we didn’t play that well. They nullified us in the first half and deserved to be ahead.
‘We’re top of the group. It’s not how we wanted the night to go but it’s still in our hands.’
