QuickCheck: Was a car overturned during a fight in Pasir Gudang?
A VIRAL video has been making its rounds showing an angry mob overturning a car allegedly at a petrol station in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
Is this true?
According to Seri Alam police, the incident happened in Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang on Thursday (Nov 3) and was the result of a traffic altercation which went from bad to worse. A video of the incident has since gone viral.
“The commotion happened after an accident involving a motorcycle and a car where both victims suffered light injuries but were stable,” said Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak.
“Following the accident, a group of unknown men attacked one of the victims by damaging and turning his car upside-down,” he said in a statement on Friday (Nov 4).
He noted that police detected the viral videos and took action by arresting three suspects between 10.45am and noon on Friday who were believed to be involved in the incident. The suspects were between 17 to 24 years of age.
“We are still on the lookout for the remaining suspects who are still free.
“We would also like to remind the public not to take matters into their own hands but leave it to the police to carry out their duties,” he said.
Supt Mohd Sohaimi added that the case was being investigated under Section 148/427 of the Penal Code for rioting and committing mischief and Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for careless and inconsiderate driving.
