Jake Melksham grabs and throws fan jersey on the ground, Melbourne vs Fremantle, Christian Petracca

Melbourne’s Jake Melksham has been widely condemned for a pretty act caught by the Fox Footy cameras prior to the Friday night contest against Fremantle in Perth.

As the Demons walked up the race and onto Optus Stadium, a fan dangled a Fremantle guernsey down the wall as the players walked past.

Melksham however took exception to the guernsey and ripped it out of the fans’ hands before dumping it on the ground right near the entry gate. As more players proceeded up the race, Christian Petracca scooped up the guernsey and threw it further under the gate.

The guernsey had a number six written on the back of it along with Jackson, a nod to Melbourne ruckman Luke Jackson who has been linked with a high-profile switch to the Dockers.

The act was picked up by those watching on and the backlash came flooding in for the Melbourne utility.

“Jake Melksham grabbing a Freo guernsey off a fan and throwing it on the ground is not spectacular,” one fan wrote.

“Pretty ordinary from Melksham & Petracca,” another added.

“Grow up Melksham. It’s not hard to ignore the guernsey,” another added.

The Demons burst out of the blocks in the opening term, kicking the first three goals of the contest before the Dockers kicked their first major.

A tight tussle saw the Dees head into the first break holding the 4.3 (27) to 2.2 (14) advantage.
