Celcom offers free 5G access for these postpaid and prepaid plans starting 1st November
Celcom customers can start experiencing 5G starting tomorrow (1st November) following the signing of 5G access agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB). Customers with compatible 5G phones on selected Celcom and Xpax postpaid and prepaid plans will automatically be able to enjoy 5G services within DNB’s coverage areas.
Celcom Postpaid and Prepaid plans with 5G access
As part of its introductory offer, Celcom is offering free 5G access for the following plans until 31st December 2022:
- Celcom MEGA™ Lightning 80
- Celcom MEGA™ Lightning 98
- Celcom MEGA™ Lightning 128
- Celcom MEGA™ Lightning 158
- Celcom MEGA™ Lightning 188
- Celcom Xpax Postpaid 40
- Celcom Xpax Postpaid 60
- Celcom Xpax Prepaid 35 (30GB High-speed)
- Celcom Xpax Prepaid 45 (40GB High-speed)
In addition, Celcom 5G customers will also get to enjoy various 5G virtual reality content as well as 5G roaming services in 14 countries. To create awareness about the capabilities of 5G services, Celcom will be conducting 5G roadshows and events throughout the nation.

At the moment, the 5G network covers 33.2% of the population and is available in the Klang Valley, Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Penang and Kelantan. DNB aims to achieve 37.9% 5G population coverage by the end of this year and to hit 80% 5G population coverage by the end of 2024.
5G-supported devices on Celcom
In terms of 5 G-supported devices, Celcom didn’t provide a comprehensive list but the website mentions that it is compatible with the following brands:
In case you’re wondering, the iPhone can’t connect to 5G yet on Celcom. Celcom added that they follow DNB’s supported devices list.
According to Celcom’s announcement on Bursa Malaysia this morning, they have signed an agreement with DNB which will enable them to access the national 5G network for a period of 10 years. The telco will access DNB’s network with no charges until 31st December 2022.
Besides Celcom, other telcos such as Telekom Malaysia, Digi and U Mobile have also announced the signing of their respective access agreements with DNB. Maxis has yet to announce any 5G agreements with DNB at the time of writing. On 7th October, Celcom also signed a share subscription agreement alongside Digi to each take a 12.5% stake in DNB.
